The PowerDent Pulse™ uses patented Pulse technology to blast away plaque, debris, stains and tartar from your dentures. The brush power cleans the denture and is used after soaking to ensure the cleanest clean.
The brush employs a patented Dual Head design that ensures all surfaces of your denture, even the hard-to-reach grooves that fit onto the gums, are powerfully brushed every day. Keeping your denture this clean means healthier gums and fresher breath. It also keeps unsightly stains from forming; keeping your denture—and your smile—looking it’s whitest and brightest.
The PowerDent Pulse™ was invented and designed by a team of dental specialists with more than 40 years of experience between them! Jim Harrison, a denturist with over 20 years in practice and over ten thousand dentures to his name, John Miller, a dentist with over 10 years experience and Ali Khonsari, a dental laboratory owner with over 10 years of experience.
Every day in their offices, these three professionals see dirty dentures. No matter how diligent many of their patients are, they often lack the ability, know how or dexterity to thoroughly and properly clean their dentures. One day, while sitting at his desk, Jim held a conventional old style denture brush in one hand and a power tooth brush in the other. The idea just popped into his head. The POWERDENT PULSE™ idea was born.
WON’T A REGULAR TOOTH BRUSH DO THE JOB?
No. A regular tooth brush is designed to brush teeth and gums in your mouth. The bristles have to be soft enough to be gentle on your gums and teeth and short enough to fit between your teeth and cheeks. These short, soft bristles are not designed for dentures. They don’t reach down into the deep grooves on the gum fitting side of dentures and are too soft to effectively clean all surfaces (especially hard to reach ones). Power tooth brushes are really no different. They’re just not designed for dentures; they are designed for teeth and gums.
The PowerDent Pulse™ is used OUTSIDE OF THE MOUTH, with the denture in your hand. The brush does all of the work for you. Just hold it to the denture and feel the rapid pulsating action of the brush as it blasts away stains and debris
IS IT EASY TO USE?
It is the easiest way to thoroughly and completely clean your dentures. Even after soaking alone, sometimes plaque and debris remain in the deep gum fitting grooves. Over time this plaque turns into hard calcified tartar and becomes even harder to clean. The PowerDent Pulse™ thoroughly deep cleans your denture—every day—disrupting this cycle and inhibiting tartar build-up. Even elderly denture wearers, with limited dexterity and compromised vision, find the brush easy to use. Simply turn it on and hold it to the denture surface. The brush does all of the work.
ORAL CARE FOR DENTURES
Dentures are a significant and costly investment; they are custom made just for you, using the most modern materials and techniques. Your dentures give your face esthetic structural support, replacing lost teeth and gums (the pink part). They also provide function, enabling the denture wearer to properly chew all of the foods that are needed for proper health and nutrition. Dentures ‘live’ in the mouth and are subject to all of the stresses and strains, plaques and stains, that natural teeth are subject to.
Within a mere matter of minutes in the mouth a microscopic ‘biofilm’ begins to accumulate on the surfaces of the denture. This film, over time accumulates and matures into bacterial plaque. Plaque is a visible sticky white film that coats the denture (as it does natural teeth and gums). This plaque, if not mechanically removed on a daily basis, will eventually become calcified by the minerals in your saliva and turn into hard and tenacious tartar (calculus). There are also stains and food debris, including small seeds that may become lodged in the tiny crevices in the denture. Soaking alone, while very good and necessary, does not adequately remove all of the adhered films and plaques on the denture. Like all principles of cleaning, the surface must be brushed as well as flushed!
Simple Analogies...
- You wouldn’t mop the floor without sweeping it!
- You wouldn’t just rinse your mouth instead of brushing!
Soaking alone, while very necessary, doesn’t take the place of brushing. Dentures must be brushed and soaked in order to be thoroughly clean!
Only the POWERDENT PULSE has the power to do the job right!
PROPER DENTURE CARE
- Place denture in cup and let soak with tablet or powder solution, according to manufacturers’ recommended times.
- Take dentures out and hold over a basin with some water in it.
- Run the dentures under water (not too hot). Apply a denture cleanser, foam or paste, to the denture.
- Turn the POWERDENT PULSE on and hold to all surfaces of denture and continue to brush (90 seconds). Do not use tooth paste (too abrasive).
- Rinse denture thoroughly before putting back in mouth.
DO NOT use the PowerDent Pulse™ in the mouth. Always brush dentures while holding them in your hand.
ABOUT THE INVENTOR
Jim Harrison D.D. is a practicing denturist in Collingwood, Ontario who is married with six kids. Life is busy and as you can imagine in his professional practice he sees over 20 patients a day who wear full or partial dentures. Over the years he has counseled them on how to best keep their dentures clean but there was never any real innovation to pass on to them. He had an idea, created a prototype out of putty and developed what today is the first power brush for dentures.
